About Doodles
Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are hybrid crosses between the poodle, lab, and golden retriever. They possess what is known as hybrid vigor, making them healthier than any of their parent breeds and reducing the risk of many breed specific diseases by adding differing breed genetics. We do health testing on our breeding dogs to prevent breeding unhealthy parents who would produce unhealthy puppies. We are more than happy to share the health test results of our dogs. We screen for hips and elbows via OFA, cardiac via OFA (goldendoodle only), eyes via PRA, and VonWillebrand via DNA or parentage.
Doodles are smart, comical, loyal, friendly, and quick to learn easy and more difficult commands even at a young age. They require consistency, much like a toddler, and they will do whatever you let them get away with. Remember, "a dog is a reflection of it's owner" – so a well behaved dog shows it's owner invested time in teaching it manners and acceptable doggy behavior. And an out of control dog shows….well, you get the picture!
Both labradoodles and goldendoodles are incredibly social and lovable. They love people, children and adults alike, as well as other animals. It would be a punishment to leave a doodle alone for long periods of time without human contact. We also encourage you to consider that dogs, like humans, are happiest with a mate, so in their case…another dog. For those times when you are gone longer than you'd like, it would be best for you to have two dogs so they can keep one another company, as well as play together and romp when you are home. We humans are great company but dogs are happiest with another canine companion.
